Probiotic Powders Dosage and Storage

General Dosing Guidelines per Age Group

INFANTS (use GutPro™ Infant only): Place a pencil-point amount of GutPro™ Infant in the baby’s mouth prior to nursing or mix with a small amount of breastmilk or formula on a spoon and give immediately before feeding. Increase the dose in tiny increments if needed or as guided by a qualified healthcare professional. Note: You may not need to give infants probiotics daily. Depending on your baby’s sensitivity, you may choose to give the probiotic less frequently (every other day, bi-weekly, once per week, etc).

TODDLERS (1-2 years of age): Add a pencil-point amount of GutPro™ Infant Powder to your toddler’s food and increase to a quarter of the smallest spoon over time (see above graphic) or as directed by a healthcare professional. May be given once daily or every other day.

YOUNG CHILDREN (3-5 years of age): Add a pencil point amount of GutPro™ Powder or Primal Gut™ Powder to your child’s food and increase slowly over time or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. Do not administer more than half of the smallest measuring spoon (see above graphic). May be taken once daily or every other day.

OLDER CHILDREN (6-12 years of age): Add an eighth or a quarter of the smallest measuring spoon of GutPro Powder or Primal Gut Powder™ (see above graphic) to your child’s food and slowly increase over time to half or all of the smallest measuring spoon. For sensitive children and children closer to the age of 5, do not administer more than half of the smallest spoon. May be taken once daily or every other day.

TEENS and ADULTS: Start the protocol by adding a quarter to half of the smallest measuring spoon of GutPro™ or Primal Gut™ Powder to food and increase over time. GutPro™ users can increase to the full drop or smidgen, and Primal Gut™ users can increase to the dash. May be taken once daily or every other day.

General notes to keep in mind

Do keep in mind that these are recommendations only and it is more important to listen to your body to determine your dose.  Every individual will have a unique dose depending on health history, weight, age, metabolism, etc.  This is why we include instructions to find your dose with every bottle of our probiotics.  We recommend starting at a "pencil point" amount (just the tip of the smallest teaspoon) and staying at that small dose for a week.  After a week, you can try slowly increasing to a larger dose (increasing slowly every week) until you reach a therapeutic amount.  A therapeutic amount can be defined as a large enough amount where you are seeing positive changes but not so much that your body is experiencing "die-off", or detoxing too quickly.

Be mindful of any changes in your body. Signs that you are taking too much of the probiotic commonly show up as cold or flu-like symptoms: muscle achiness, fatigue, brain fog, difficult sleeping.  Other symptoms to look out for that can be especially common in children are skin flareups or rashes (eczema, cradle cap, or acne); difficulty concentrating; and changes in bowel movements.

Remember that any probiotic is only going to be as effective as the diet that it's paired with, so do be sure to stay away from processed foods and refined sugar and flour.  Do consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before adding any supplement to your or your family's regimen.

Storage

Please keep the probiotics refrigerated and always capped for long term storage.  Do not remove the moisture packet inside the bottle.  Make sure the spoons are very clean and dry before using them with the powder for best results.
